The price of teeth braces was about 8000-10000 tl 10 years ago and now it is between 2500 and 6500 TL. There are many reasons for this decline in price. Firstly, it was thought to be a bad appearance of dental braces. Now it has become a trend among young people and primary school students. Even the elementary school students prefer to wear metallic braces and girls wear pink, purple colors and while boys like the colors of yellow navy blue, yellow red or blue colors began to make a difference between their friends. For such reasons, a large explosion occurred in the number of braces. The price of dental braces decreased due to the competition of this explosion in the sector.
In the past, the companies that produced the braces were monopolized and the braces were quite expensive. Now that many companies have different products in the market, the competition in the price of materials has formed. Doctors started to treat the treatment cheaper.
Currently, 90% of dental clinics are under the minimum price list determined by the Turkish Dental Association.
Patients under 18 years of age can only be treated at the price of materials in university hospitals. The price of dental braces preferred by the university hospitals is around 3000-4000 TL. SSI does not satisfy the treatment expenses of dental braces for patients over 18 years of age. Public hospitals, universities and private orthodontic clinics also apply paid treatment.
Recently, the ministry of health has started to refer patients who have not been able to overcome the work force of their own staff to the doctors who work in private. He pledged to cover 20% of the invoiced treatment expense. Only 20% of this payment is made from the hospital's circulating capital so hospitals do not want to refer patients out. Patients need to work hard to get this referral, they need to prepare an index document to receive the payment from the state and the payment is made at the end of a period of 6 months. The clinics who do not want to deal with these difficulties solve the problem by determining the treatment fee by 20% below the treatment amount that they must bill.
